Ben Ward

Brierwood was the first and last golf course that Ward has designed

Ben Ward is the designer of the wonderful Brierwood Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, which is situated in a beautiful Carolina coastal pine forest. Ward, who is also a member of the American Junior Golf Association has spent several years now running a program that brings golf professionals to New York schools to help spread the popularity of golf to kids who may not have a chance to meet these golf legends first hand.

Ward has taken that same charity and love for golf and applied it to the course that bears his name as architect. The Brierwood Golf Course is a semi-private club that many feel caters to the perfect golf game. Many players who come to this course end up having one of the best games of their lives on this championship par 72 layout course. All skill levels are welcome at this course, and all skill levels will be tested with the ponds, lakes, manicured greens and large fairways that dominate this wonderful course.

The Brierwood Golf Course has been described as the finest golf course in the South Brunswick Isles, just to the north of Myrtle Beach. It is also the most played course along the Carolina Course thanks to its mature 18 holes that find their way winding gently through the coastal forest setting of the area.

There is a misconception that to be a great golf architect you have to be a great golf professional or have a long history of golf architecture behind you. This is not true. Ben Ward has only designed Brierwood, and has spent years helping to spread the game of golf to today's youth to inspire them to go further than they ever thought possible. He helps kids find an outlet in their childhood and teenage years to keep them away from gangs and drugs, and thereby helps to make the world a better place. You can experience that wonderful charity of Ward when you play his masterpiece course Brierwood, where all golfers are welcome and where all golfers are inspired by the landscape and challenge of those 18 holes.
