Full Description of Man O' War Course

Man O' War golf course rises up from a 100-acre lake with plenty of weapons. Famous and talented architect Dan Maples has launched a new phase in the battle for golf dominance with this course. An outstanding island ninth hole and back-to-back island greens create a unique course you'll keep coming back to again and again.

Water is the inescapable element in this battle. It's a constant companion from the very first hole to the final war for victory at the eighteenth. Be sure not to underestimate the lake--its shimmering beauty can change from hazard to ally to enemy in an instant. However, Dan Maples has created a uniquely fair playing field by interweaving holes which require different skills, so that golfers of all skill levels and proficiencies will be rewarded. If what you're looking for is a challenge, this Myrtle Beach, SC golf course will present exactly just that.

Course Reviews

Best course we played at Myrtle

Played Man O War, Calidonia, Heathland at the Legends and Myrtle Beach National North course. Man O War was by far the best that we played. Best shape, Fairest course and the best test of golf. Although Calidonia was pretty, It was way too short. That was a disappointment as we were told it was a great course. Nice course and beautiful but not the test of golf that Man O War was. The other two were just Ok in comparison to these two

Disappointed with the quality of the greens. Most were in rough shape. The course just didn't measure up to the quality found in others played.

wish i could play here all the time

Ive played 73 different courses in the Myrtle Beach area. Man-o-war is near the top. Layout is playable despite all the water. My drives aren't as long as they used to be (215 avg carry) but I still managed to shoot 36 on the back nine. Bent greens will hold the shots hit into them. I want to play this one every year.

Course is challenging and greens are good. But all of the good is gone to waste because of the "snobbish" attitude in the pro shop. They act as if they are doing you a great favor by even talking to you. My group will not be back.

OK shape, not great

Really stacked up lead to a nearly 6 hour round. They must be running some killer deals with Witch and Wizard. Will probably not play again anytime soon.

Awesome

this is our fourth year in North Myrtle Beach and please believe we have played some golf in those four years. by far the man o war has been the prettiest, nicest, best kept up course we have played. the staff at man o war really know what they are doing with their courses. very nice people at the course, and the cart guy was great. as the day went on we were offered twice if we would like a cold towel due to the hot weather, and last i wont leave out the best part of the course... the greens!!! best greens in Central Myrtle.. hope this review can help your decision. you wont be disappointed

Would NOT play again

3/23/12, Would not ever include this course again! We got to the third hole when things started bunching up in front and behind us. On tee box 6 we had waited 15 minutes with 3 foursomes still in front of us waiting to tee off. No ranger in site we pulled off toward club house. Explained to gentleman at front desk and we asked for our money back. He asked if we lived there, we said no. He offered us a rain check, we explained we lived out of state and wouldn't be able to use it within a year. He said things were moving along fine with no waiting to minimum wait. We didn't know how he could say that since he wasn't out there or had a ranger relaying info. to him. Finally tired explaining we just walked off. But a quick phone call home to a group headed that way later in the year, helped them make a decision to not include this course during there visit. Sorry for the comments but better management would have helped. I will be shocked if this gets posted, at least someone may read and allow for a more enjoyable round for the next out of state visitors!!!
