In all, Johnston has designed five Myrtle Beach golf courses: Brunswick Plantation, Glen Dornoch, Heather Glen, Shaftesbury Glen and Wachesaw Plantation East.

Brunswick Plantation is a 27-hole course that uses Crenshaw Bent grass greens and lies right along the state line between North Carolina and South Carolina. With a 14,000 square foot clubhouse, it is the perfect place to go for a golf game when he just need to get away from it all.

After it opened in 1996, Glen Dornoch became a favorite of golfers in the Myrtle Beach area. This course features as much as 35 foot elevations as it slopes down towards the Intracoastal Waterway, while at the same time using natural terrain, lakes and marsh areas. One of the great courses in the Southeast United States, it offers beautiful views that will cause you to pause from your golf game to take it all in.

Heather Glen is a golf masterpiece that features the beauty of Scottish golf tradition, including a clubhouse designed to look like a 19th century styled building. Each hole is made distinctive in the Scottish manner. This is the course you come to if you want to experience the history and beauty of golf all in one place.

Shaftesbury Glen is an 18-hole championship course that features a stone-gated entrance and an old English clubhouse, as well as wide fairways, tough dog-legs and elevated greens.

Wachesaw Plantation East is the fifth of the Clyde Johnston designed courses made in a Scottish manner, which sits on a former rice plantation and is carved into gently rolling terrain. This course was the host of the 1998 DuPont World Amateur and is the home of the City of Hope LPGA Golf Tournament.
