One AWESOME Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation on a Budget

Monday, August 25th, 2014

Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation

Fall golf season is right around the corner and now is the best time to try to rally the troops to get out of town for a much needed golf vacation here along the Grand Strand.  After spending the summer with family of friends, we realize that finances may be tight.  If you read through the following information, I will give you a blueprint to save you and your group a ton of money.  What I am about to give you is the best budgeted plans for 3-night and 4-night stays which will include pricing for accommodations, golf,  and some of my favorite places to hit up for dinner and happy hour.

ACCOMMODATIONS

**All pricing includes all taxes and fees **

Malibu Pointe

This location has 1, 3, and 4-bedroom units.  The best value for 4 golfers would be to stay in a 3-bedroom/3-bathroom unit.  Bedding in most units includes 1 king, 1 queen, and 2 doubles.   Stay as low as $550 for a 3-night stay and $680 for a 4-night stay while enjoying flat screen TV’s, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, free WI-FI and a beautiful ocean view.  Other amenities include an indoor pool, outdoor pool, lazy river, and hot tub.

Bay Watch Resort

This location has 1, 2, and 3-bedroom oceanfront units.  The best value at this property is to stay in a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom condo that has 4 double beds.  Stay as low as $480 for a 3-night stay and $590 for a 4-night stay.  This property has 3 on-site restaurants,  indoor and outdoor lazy rivers, hot tubs, and swimming pools, game room, free WI-FI and fitness center.

Crescent Keyes

This resort has 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom units.  The 3-bedroom/2-bathroom units at this location give golfers an amazing ocean front view of the Atlantic Ocean.  The 3-bedroom units can be rented for as low as $630 for a 3-night stay or a 4-night stay for  $780.  This property offers a huge pool area, two oceanfront hot tubs, two lazy rivers, kiddie pool, and exercise facility.

GOLF PACKAGES

3 Round Packages

Mystical Package includes lunch and 2 beers  each day for as low as $129 per golfer

Sea Trail Package includes free replays each day for as low as $132 per golfer

East Coast Combo includes lunch and 2 beers each day for as low as $120 per golfer

Legends Package includes buffet breakfast, lunch, and 2 beers each day for as low as $156 per golfer

4 Round Packages

Big Cats Package includes 4 rounds with lunch each day for as low as $168 per golfer

East Coast Combo includes lunch and 2 beers for as low as $148 per golfer

Legends  Package includes buffet breakfast, lunch, and 2 beers per day for as low as $177 per golfer

At this point you have the information to handle your lodging and your golf… now comes the best part, happy hour and dinner in Myrtle Beach.  Here are some of my top choices:

HAPPY HOURS

Boardwalk Billy’s  This indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant provides a perfect place to unwind on inexpensive drinks, fresh seafood, sushi, and great wings, all while listening to live music while overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway.

Flying Fish Public Market and Grill is located in the heart of Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach.  Click on the following link to see their Happy Hour menu.

Tee’d Off  This watering hole is centrally located, right off of Lake Arrowhead Road.  Not only do they have great food, there are plenty of games,  large flat-screen TV’s , and even a golf simulator.

DINING OPTIONS

Fire and Smoke is the a quaint spot located just off of Hwy 17 Business in Myrtle Beach.  Stopping here will be one of the best decisions you will ever make on vacation.  The plate portions are small but so is the price.  This will allow you to order multiple items from their amazing menu.  P.S. – You have to try the wood-grilled Caesar Salad.

Joe’s Bar and Grill offers one of the best atmospheres for dining on all of the Grand Strand.  Dining inside, on the porch, or overlooking the marsh will not be disappointing at this amazing restaurant.  Seafood and steaks are prepared to perfection.  Large groups can also rent this location for private parties and awards ceremonies.

New Your Prime Well, the name speaks for itself.  This company has never failed me at any location, and Myrtle Beach is no different.  If  award-winning steaks and seafood dishes are what you want, this is where you can get them.   Ask for Robert Powell, not only is he a great waiter but an avid golfer as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read through and discover some of the best deals and my favorite places to dine here in Myrtle Beach.  Just remember the more you save on golf and accommodations, the more you get to spend on great food and drinks.  Make sure you email us or call us to book your future golf trip!

New Golf Packages for the 2014 Myrtle Beach Season

Tuesday, January 21st, 2014

The beginning of the year brings about change for everyone.  Whether you have made plans to become healthier, wealthier, or wiser is up to you.  The Myrtle Beach golf industry has decided to make some changes of its own to accomplish some of these tasks.  New packages and changes to existing packages have been made to help you get more out of your golf vacation in 2014.

The first three weeks in January are the busiest weeks for quoting Spring golf here along the Grand Strand.  After these three weeks, the majority of the peak tee times at some of the most demanded golf courses will have already been taken.  Make sure you get your quotes in early to ensure the best accommodations and tee times for your group.  Even though the first three weeks of the year are the busiest, you can take advantage of accommodation specials as early as October of the previous year.  Golf rates are usually announced early so this will be the best time to save the most money on your vacation.

As I stated earlier, the golf courses have listened to you the golfer and here is a run down of what is new and exciting for 2014 in alphabetical order:

Myrtle Beach Barefoot Resort Davis Love Course

Barefoot Love Course

Barefoot Resort is offering a special for booking golf on any Wednesday as well as offering huge discounts for booking Fall early.  They also have a special if you play three of their courses you get the fourth round free.

Big Cats Courses at Ocean Ridge Plantation

Ocean Ridge Golf

The Big Cats are now offering lunch with their 4-round package as well as allowing the golfer to play all 4 rounds in the AM.  This is a change from the 2013 package and gives the golfer more incentive to book their courses.

Founder's Club at Pawley's Island

Founder’s Club at Pawley’s Island

The Classic Package has undergone changes as well.  In the past, they offered a package where you play four rounds and you automatically get free replays.  This year they have a simple 3 or 4- round package without replays or they have a package that offers a cheaper rate for playing just in the PM.  Classic has also partnered with East Coast Golf Management to help boost their individual course bookings since their four current courses are located so far apart.

River's Edge Golf

River’s Edge Golf

East Coast Golf Management is the new big surprise here along the Grand Strand.  This company offers 2, 3, 4, and 5-round packages that include drinks, meals, discounts in pro shops in addition to free golf balls when booking their packages.  East Coast now has 22 courses along the Grand Strand and continues to  grow.

Myrtle Beach Glen Dornoch

Glen Dornoch

The Glen’s Group is again offering their 3+5 package — pay for 3 rounds and the 4th round is free as well as pre-booked replays after 1:30 PM.  New for this year and to entice you even more, lunch is included with your round of golf.

Myrtle Beach Legends Golf

Legend’s Clubhouse

The Legend’s Group has had much success with their 5-round (or 4+1) package and will continue to offer this throughout 2014.  Buffet breakfast, lunch, and two beers are included with your rounds of golf at any of their courses.

Myrtle Beach King's North

King’s North

The National Group released the Prime Time Rewards Package last Fall and it was a huge success. This package has been extended into the Spring season and is already the most requested package.  Look for additional offerings in this package for the upcoming Fall season.

Hopefully this will give you, the golfer, a little insight into what Myrtle Beach has to offer in the Spring of 2014.  There is value out there, just ask and we can set your group up with a golf package that fits your needs.

Monday after the Masters 2010 – A quick recap

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Once again Monday After the Masters Celebrity Golf Tournament was an enormous success. The 16th annual event organized by Hootie & the Blowfish, played in front of sellout crowd of 6,000 fans, for the fifth consecutive year.   Hosted by The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf in Barefoot Landing, the Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament attracts thousands of people who enjoy the music of the two-time Grammy award winners as well as the friendly competition between the band and their celebrity and PGA professional friends.

Darius Rucker, lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish, said, “Each year, the list of great athletes and celebrities continues to grow, and to know we come to Myrtle Beach to have fun and raise money for a great cause, it is without a doubt one of things I look forward to doing every spring.”

All ticket proceeds benefit the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of children in South Carolina and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation. Last year, the event recorded its fourth consecutive sell-out and raised $155,000 for various South Carolina charities.

Over the past 15 years, the Monday After the Masters has donated more than $4 million to the Hootie & the Blowfish Foundation, which supports the educational needs of South Carolina and the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation. The 2010 Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament kicked off Sunday night with a Live Auction and Pairings Party at the House of Blues.

Headlining the 16th annual tournament were PGA TOUR players Jim Furyk, John Daly and former Coastal Carolina University star Dustin Johnson; professional wrestling legend Ric Flair; NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino; NFL Hall-of Famer and Chicago Bears great Gale Sayers; former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar; NASCAR drivers Kyle Petty and Michael

Waltrip; LPGA golfer and Myrtle Beach area native Kristy McPherson.

“It’s always a tournament and event that’s special to my heart,” McPherson said. “It’s good to be back near home and having a good time and getting the hometown crowd and raising money for some good causes.”

Representing the music world were country sensations Colt Ford, Jack Ingram, Steve Azar and Johnny Lee; R&B singer Javier Colon; pop rock performer Edwin McCain; musician Branford Marsalis; Alter Bridge drummer Scott Phillips; Andrew Copeland of Sister Hazel and Dan Tyminski of Union Station.

Other former NFL players George Rogers and Sterling Sharpe competed, and former Major League Baseball stars Mickey Tettleton and Chuck Finley participated in the 16th annual celebrity golf tournament.

Anyone who could not attend this year’s tournament in “The Golf Capital of the World,” GOLF CHANNEL will broadcast a highlight show in May with interviews and footage from the 2010 Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After The Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Tournament.
